Hut & Yurt Trips
Prepare for the approach, daily tours, and consecutive days of skiing or riding.
Touring With Friends

What You’ll Build
Climb Stronger
Build aerobic fitness and uphill endurance for longer climbs and more vertical.
Descend Stronger
Develop leg and core strength to ski or ride with control after the climb.
Keep Going
Build endurance for longer tours and consecutive days in the mountains.
Build fitness for the day you’ve planned, with something left when the climb takes longer or the exit demands more. Strength and endurance support your backcountry skills and judgment, helping you meet the physical demands without using everything you have.
HOW YOU’LL TRAIN
Train for Stronger Days in the Backcountry
Your week combines strength and aerobic training, uphill conditioning, and longer ski-specific sessions to build fitness that transfers directly to touring.
3
AEROBIC & UPHILL CONDITIONING SESSIONS
Aerobic training builds the engine for long climbs, while progressive uphill work develops the ability to keep moving efficiently as the vert adds up.
2
STRENGTH WORKOUTS
Focused strength training builds the leg, hip, core, and full-body strength needed for climbing, variable snow, transitions, and strong descents on tired legs.
1
LONG ENDURANCE SESSION
A longer hike or tour builds time on your feet, vertical gain, and the endurance needed for bigger backcountry days.
WEEKLY GUIDANCE NOTES
Short notes inside your calendar explain the purpose of each week and offer practical guidance on training, recovery, and steady progress.
Delivered Through TrainingPeaks

YOUR COACH
Built by a Coach Who Loves Long Days on Skis
I’m Dane Brinkley, a certified personal trainer with well over a decade of experience guiding skiers in the California and Oregon backcountry and teaching avalanche skills courses. Today, my focus is training climbers and skiers, alongside continued guiding with Shasta Mountain Guides and Three Sisters Backcountry. My background also includes working at ski areas as a ski patroller and race tech. Those experiences shape how I prepare people for the physical demands of skiing.
From Tahoe to Mount Hood, I share your enthusiasm for the terrain, snow, and days that make this part of the world special. I also know how much fitness shapes the experience, whether you’re learning on an avalanche course, touring from a backcountry yurt, or heading out with friends.
I built this program to help you arrive prepared, enjoy the skintrack, and have strong legs left for the skiing.
